Every healthcare software vendor in Dubai says it is trusted, compliant and innovative. Those words tell a clinic owner nothing. What tells them something is where the company is based, how long it has been doing this, which authorities have approved the product, what happens in the weeks after signature, and who answers the phone at night. This page answers those questions about MEDAS, plainly, so that you can compare us against the same questions asked of anyone else.
Who MEDAS is
MEDAS Middle East Software Systems LLC is a healthcare software company headquartered in Dubai and part of the UNISIS Group. MEDAS has built healthcare systems since 2008, starting with an integrated hospital information system, adding an EMR platform, expanding into Africa and Europe, moving to cloud-native delivery, telemedicine and mobile, and establishing operations in the United States. Today MEDAS software runs in more than 500 healthcare facilities across four continents, with the GCC as its home market and offices across the region.
That history matters for one practical reason: healthcare software is a long relationship. A clinic that signs today will still be running the system, and calling the vendor, in 2033. A vendor that has been through eighteen years of regulatory change in the UAE is more likely to be there.
What MEDAS has built
MEDAS offers one integrated suite rather than a clinic product with partners bolted on. The same clinical foundation runs from a single clinic to a multi-branch group to a hospital, which means a group that grows does not change systems and a patient's record does not change shape.
- E-Clinic: clinic management for clinics, polyclinics and medical centres, with 24 integrated modules covering scheduling, registration, specialty EMR, nursing, billing, insurance and e-claims, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, inventory, accounting, HRMS, patient portal, mobile app, telemedicine and reporting.
- HIMS: hospital information management for multi-specialty hospitals, with inpatient, departmental and operational workflows on the same foundation.
- EMR, E-Lab, E-Pharma, Telemedicine and the patient mobile app: available as modules of E-Clinic and HIMS or as focused deployments.
- AccreHealth: accreditation and quality management for facilities working towards JCI and similar standards.
- E-Veterinary: the same operating model for veterinary practices.
Deployment is the facility's choice: cloud, hybrid or on-premise, depending on governance requirements and how many sites it runs.
Who has approved it
E-Clinic is approved by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH/HAAD) for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOH/MOHAP) across the Northern Emirates. In practice that means a group can run every UAE branch on one platform, and a clinic that opens a second site in another emirate does not start a new software project.
On health information exchange, MEDAS supports NABIDH in Dubai, Malaffi in Abu Dhabi and Riayati at the federal level, with HL7 interoperability underneath and FHIR according to project scope, and NPHIES for facilities in Saudi Arabia. We describe these as integration workflows rather than blanket certification because the exact scope depends on the facility, the implementation and the authority's current requirements, and we confirm it during scoping rather than in a brochure. The NABIDH checklist shows how that work is divided.
How implementation works
A typical E-Clinic implementation runs four to eight weeks, in named stages: scoping of your patient journey, specialties, insurers and existing systems; configuration of templates, price lists, insurer contracts, roles and reports; data migration with sample runs and reconciliation; integration testing for the exchange, e-claims and devices; role-based training; and a supported go-live. A hospital implementation follows the same method on a longer timeline. The clinic digitisation guide describes each stage from the facility's side.
Your data is yours. Migration in is part of the plan, and export out is available throughout the relationship in standard formats. We put that in the proposal because we think every vendor should.
How support works
Support is 24/7 by phone, email and WhatsApp, with guaranteed response times, from a team based in the region that knows UAE insurers and exchange workflows by name. Enterprise clients have dedicated account management. Regular software updates are included, and when an authority changes a specification, keeping the platform current is part of the service rather than a new project.
How pricing works
E-Clinic and HIMS are offered on a monthly subscription or a usage-based model. The price is built from the modules, users, branches, deployment and integrations a facility actually needs, which is why we ask about your facility before quoting. A four-room clinic pays for a four-room clinic. We do not publish a per-practitioner headline price because in our experience it is never the number a facility ends up paying, with any vendor.
Who MEDAS is not the right fit for
Honesty here saves everyone time.
- A facility that wants to sign up and self-configure from a website in an afternoon. MEDAS implementations are scoped and delivered by a team. That is slower to start and, we believe, far more likely to work, but it is not self-service.
- A practice that will only ever be one doctor with cash patients and no exchange obligations. E-Clinic will work, but its value is in connecting the parts of a facility that has parts.
- A buyer who needs a public price list to compare against. We quote from scope. If a headline number is the deciding factor, we are not the vendor for that decision.
How to check any of this
Do not take this page's word for it. Ask us for the approvals in writing. Ask for two reference facilities of your type and size in the UAE, and call them. Send us your own demo script, built from your patient journey, and score us on it with your clinicians driving. The five-area scorecard and the selection process are what we would use if we were buying. If we score well on your criteria, good. If a competitor scores better for your facility, you should choose them, and you will have chosen well.
